The Very First Leaf

“Sanctuary in the Woods” I painted in college.

“In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
The Word became flesh and
made his dwelling among us.”  John 1:1,14

I am in love with words.
First of all, the best is Word made flesh, which is Jesus,
and words in Scripture, of course.
I also love everyday words we use,
learning and teaching different languages,
studying linguistics,
and afterglow of words which is not actually words…

I am so thankful I’m born a human
who has to deal with the languages
(although I’m not 100% perfect in either English or Japanese).
(So this blog is my attempt to improve both languages.)

Therefore, I want to share leaves here one by one,
as a Christian, an English teacher, a poetry lover, and as a friend
with whom I met in my life at schools, churches, work place
and other places, including this blog here.

I hope that you can enjoy the leaves,
winds rustling through them,
and sunshine pouring through them.
(That’s kind of like trinity, isn’t it?)

Anyways, here’s a fresh poem just for this blog!

Wordy Leaves Dancing

Words are
Dancing on a tree
Gathering, spreading,
Blown by the wind

Speaking to someone
Sharing something

Blue sky
Leaves rustle
Showering sunshine
Seen and heard
Beyond words

Something’s expressed
Somebody’s sensing

Words are
Dancing on a tree
Falling, swaying
Back to the roots

Entrusted to somebody
Transformed to something

    • Congratulations, Tim! You are the first one to comment on my new blog. Thank you. As you encouraged me, I will write and transfer more posts in English. In my old blog, I wrote more than twice as many posts in Japanese as those in English. I will try to make this blog equally bilingual. And yes, it may be the time to re-sound your articulation again.
